Halifax’s food scene is getting more national attention.
Two Halifax restaurants were named on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list for 2026, putting the city’s upscale dining scene in the spotlight.
Mystic ranked 16th on the national list, while Tribute made its debut at 53rd.
Mystic Ranked 16th In Canada
Mystic was one of the highest-ranked Atlantic Canadian restaurants on the 2026 list.
Canada’s 100 Best ranked the Halifax restaurant at No. 16 for 2026. The restaurant is located at 1723 Lower Water Streetand is known for its refined tasting-menu experience focused on Nova Scotia ingredients.
Mystic’s own website describes its Signature Menus, Fauna and Biota, as an eight-course journey through land and sea, built around Nova Scotia’s seasonal ingredients and coastal identity.
The restaurant is led by Chef Malcolm Campbell and has quickly become one of Halifax’s most talked-about fine dining spots.
Tribute Made The List At 53rd
Tribute also landed on the 2026 list, ranking No. 53 in Canada.
The restaurant is located at 1341 Lower Water Street, Unit 121, on the Halifax waterfront.
Canada’s 100 Best also included Tribute among its Best New Restaurants for 2026, giving the newer Halifax spot national recognition.
Tribute is known for its warm waterfront setting and wood-fired, open-flame cooking. The restaurant is led by Halifax-born Chef Colin Bebbington.
Halifax’s Food Scene Is Getting Bigger Recognition
The rankings are a major win for Halifax’s restaurant scene.
For years, Halifax has been known for seafood, casual pubs, and classic East Coast dining. But restaurants like Mystic and Tribute show how the city’s food scene is evolving.
More chefs are building menus around Nova Scotia ingredients, seasonal cooking, local farms, seafood, foraged elements, and elevated dining experiences.
That local-first approach is helping Halifax stand out on a national level.
